On July 25th 2016 , Retired Marine Gen. John Allen confirmed his endorsement of Hillary Clinton's presidential election. However , this violates the DoD Directive 1344.10 . which states "Allow or cause to be published partisan political articles, letters, or endorsements signed or written by the member that solicits votes for or against a partisan political party, candidate, or cause. " in 4.1.2.3 of the DoD Directive 1344.10.
4.1.2.5 "Speak before a partisan political gathering, including any gathering that promotes a partisan political party, candidate, or cause." He spoke on behalf of the Marine Corps without consulting every Marines opinion on this matter. As being a Retired Marine he portrays the Marine Corps as a whole since one of our motto's are "Once a Marine, Always a Marine".
