When the framers of the Constitution originally proposed the First Amendment, they had just come out of a time when the right to freedom of speech and the ability to peacefully assemble were all but denied by the oppressive British government. It is highly unlikely that they even dreamed that some people would abuse that right and use it to slander entire groups of people just because they don't know how to correctly interpret the Bible. It is because of this that we the people of the United States formally request that these rights, among the rest guaranteed by the First Amendment, be no longer extended to the members of the Westboro Baptist Church.
