Walter McNulty is the youngest American citizen to ever serve in WWII. An orphan, at the age of 14, he snuck into service by assuming a false name and helped free prisoners in a concentration camp. His true age was discovered and he was sent home. Undeterred to serve his country, he snuck back into military service at the age of 16. Severely injured and presumed dead, notice was sent home to the mother of the young man whose name he had assumed, but her son was in the house doing homework. His true identity was revealed and he was dismissed with bad conduct. He went on to live a good life and saved 30 people from a burning building, raised a loving family, and is a true hero.
