The contamination of water due to fracking, has become a real problem in the state of California. We demand that the Obama Administration revoke California’s license for the water management of wastewater used in fracking to allow the EPA to establish and enforce its own regulations to ensure public safety, and to maintain well integrity, thus preventing spills, accidental disposal into clean water, and poor water treatment. In 1983, the EPA deferred responsibility of water management in its well-injection program to the state which does not have strict enough regulations to secure water safety in the process of fracking. Fracking wells drill through groundwater aquifers and when these wells are not properly sealed the toxic chemicals in fracking fluid can leak and contaminate our water.
