Since 1966 Cuban nationals have enjoyed the benefits of the Cuban Adjustment Act created for Cubans fleeing Fidel Castro's government. Cubans become legal residents of the United States almost as soon as they reach American soil. And in 5 years they can apply for citizenship.
The problem is that, personally, I have met Cubans who immigrate here through the Mexican border or using fake passports. What happens to any other non-Cuban who cross the border or uses fake passports and gets caught? Certainly they will not be granted residency to the country.
It is not fair to the millions of other illegal immigrants the come to this country to fight for a better life. If they don't get especial treatment, why should Cubans? After all, the put Castro there, it shouldn't be our problem.
