Over the past couple of years Facebook as begun applying new algorithms that filter the content that appears on its users' news feed. This effort to enhance their platform has been abused in order to extort artists, businesses, celebrities and all types of fan page owners as they now limit the amount of people who see your posts to only a fraction of the fans that you already posses. In most cases this ratio is under 5%. Meaning that for every 5000 fans any page has, only 50 actually get to see that page's posts, unless, of course, you pay Facebook to regain the right to reach the people who already willingly subscribed for your updates.
This is nothing less than extortion to boost profits and drive Facebook stock prices up, while affecting millions of small business owners and creatives.
