In December, 2015, the House passed a law terminating Visa Waiver Program travel privileges through denying visa-free traveling to the United States by the nationals of Iraq, Syria, Iran and the Sudan, and those who have visited the named countries since 2011.
As Iranian researchers, scholars and university professors, we, hereby, urge your administration to revoke or amend the “Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act of 2015” (H.R. 158) and exclude Iran from this law. We strongly believe that this law unreasonably puts blanket discrimination on millions of world citizens merely on the basis of their nationality, national-ethnic origin, or religion and find this strict measure an egregious violation and sabotage of the hard-won nuclear deal.
