H.R. 3547 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2014, Public Law 113-76, Section 210
Section 210 should be revoked for the following reasons:
1. United States Housing Act of 1937 was established to prevent homelessness, and provide affordable housing for citizens. Amendments will cause the elderly, disabled, and low income families with children to become homeless, which was not the purpose of the original Act. They cannot afford this, most are on fixed incomes.
2. Appropriations 2014 has provided funds to be used for the elderly, disabled, and low income families.
3. HUD does not allocate funding to all US areas.
4. Rents are different in each location (not disclosed by HUD) and cannot be compared..
5. This increase will probably increase rents in the private sector.
