Rewrite the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The 2nd amendment needs to be updated to reflect the current social climate of this country. In recent memory up to today, too many instances of gun violence has happened and while we deserve the right to defend ourselves when need be, it shouldn't call for the use of an assault rifle. I believe that as a people, our options to keep and bear arms should be limited to pistols for self defense( with small capacity clips), shotguns( with small size target load shells), and hunting rifles for wild game. An assault rifle is designed for one purpose only: to take out large amounts of enemy troops quickly. The American Private Citizen shouldn't need a assault rifle to defend himself/herself. A pistol/shotgun will do the job just fine. Leave the assault rifles to the military, permanently.
