Right to Record Police Activity

Created by S.A. on July 07, 2016

In wake of recent police shooting videos it's become apparent that the right to record police interactions is imperative. As a civilian, interaction with the police force has inherent power imbalances. The police are in a position of authority, familiar with the legal system and have the support of taxpayer dollars to plead their case. The less evidence that is available the more this imbalance exists. We the people need more documented evidence and less room for interpretation. This petition seeks to formalize the right to record police activity and bring this to court as a evidence. We need this right to hold police accountable for their actions and give civilians a defense against abuse of authority.
