I am a person of dark skin, and as such, I fear for my life when dealing with police officers. I believe that I should have the right to stop in a place where I feel safe, with enough people and/or light and/or cameras around so I know the police officer would be accountable for any unnecessary violence.
A potential solution could be: whenever a police officer pulls someone over, the person in the car should acknowledge the situation by turning the emergency lights on; lower the speed, and drive to a place where he/she would feel safe.
We should not fear for our lives when dealing with police officers, but until the government takes serious steps to reform the police force in the country, there should be protections in place.
