Magdalene asylums,laundries, homes were basically just institutions, created by the Roman Catholic Church, from the 18th to the mid-20th centuries ostensibly for "fallen women", a term used to imply sexual promiscuity, actually, these were women, un-wed at times, and pregnant, seeking help and support, but were treated with hatred, distain, insults, torture and physical abuse by the "representatives of the RC Church, such as nuns, priests, bishops etc.
The expectant mothers were very often,forced to give-up their babies, a 3 years old, AFTER having raised them from birth..torturous actions!
