Please do not engage in negative campaigning. It is harmful to our political system and citizens' attitudes toward politics. Take a stand in what you are able to control and run a clean campaign.
Voters are increasingly turned off by all of the mudslinging. Political candidates are still taking comments out context, disparaging the actions of family members, & fear mongering. The 24-hour news cycle & social media magnify the effect of negative campaigning, weakening our democracy by turning off potential voters.
Be forthcoming about yourself and your policies. Admit your missteps in the current term and the changes that will occur going forward. The best way to emphasize the difference between yourself & the challengers is to run a positive campaign in stark contrast to their negativism.
