It is clear from the mess our country is in that our elected officials don't get it, and their job performance is not to the standard we expect. This is a wake-up call. The salaries of all three branches of the federal government will be reduced by fifty percent, effective immediately. All current retirement benefits will be eliminated permanently, and these elected officials will pay into Social Security. Health benefits will be altered to resemble the health care benefits of the average citizen. Upon a satisfactory two-year performance review conducted by a pool of citizens, salary may be increased by twenty-five percent per year for two years. Former retirement and health benefits will not be reinstated.
