Sanction the legal status of midwives (lay and professional) through collaboration with state governments.

Created by J.L. on November 12, 2012

In order to avoid discrimination, disparities in care, and a culture of discontent the legal, professional, and religious status of midwives in rural, suburban, urban and interstate areas of the United States of America must be upheld by the federal government. The ACA, APA, AMHCA, IOM, and WHO recognize mothers as consumers who make choices about maternal-infant care. Women's individual demographics, including language, nationality, and social networks influence health and medical care in the United States. As citizens and consumers, women need access to providers and viable options for continuity of care. Physician shortages continue to limit options for mothers. Women of all nationalities benefit from the inclusion, legal status, and education of lay and professional midwives.
