The government of the Republic of the Maldives is guilty of denying basic human rights to its people, in clear violation of international law and common decency.

We call on the United States to sanction said government by:
1. Communicating to the government of the Republic of the Maldives that the United States will not maintain friendly relations with regimes which commit barbaric acts.
2. Indicating that if said government does not immediately take steps to correct its behavior, the United States will cut off all diplomatic and economic ties, including a total embargo.
