Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and Goodluck Jonathon of Nigeria have either enacted or are in the process of enacting horrendous legislation to imprison their LGBT population assisted by U.S. missionaries such as Scott Lively (who is now on trial for crimes against humanity) which has already caused violence against the LGBT community in those countries. President Obama and multiple members of Congress and our diplomatic community have spoken publicly about the abject wrongness of these issues but speaking out against what are obvious civil and human rights violations is not enough. The appropriate response for the US would be to sanction Uganda and Nigeria and cease all Federal funding until these draconian laws are repealed. Our country stands for human rights, please prove it.
