The venerable A-10 has been a workhorse for the United States Air Force over the last 14 years in the War on Terror. Beloved by ground troops across branches and even coalition nations, this aircraft has saved countless lives while performing its mission of close air support. In this role, the A-10 has no peers. The Air Force is attempting to retire it due to claims of budget constraints, claiming they need to cut the $4 billion the A-10 would cost, yet they press forward with the problem-prone $400 billion F-35 program, which has yet to become operational. Although many combat veterans have come forward in support of the A-10, the Air Force brass insists, mistakenly, that other aircraft, such as the F-35, can perform the close air support mission.
