End the war on drugs and the prohibition regime, and move towards a system based on decriminalization, regulation, public health and education. This 50 year old policy has failed, fuels violent organized crime, devastates lives and is costing billions. It is time for a humane and effective approach.
Illicit drugs are now the third most valuable industry in the world after food and oil, all in the control of criminals. Due to drug laws in the US, we have 25% of the worlds prisoner population, but only 5% of the worlds total population -- more of our people in prison than China with a population of 1 billion more people than the US.
Support former US Presidents Carter and Clinton, and many other world leaders, in supporting a new approach to drugs.
