Save $1.2 BILLION per year. Curb unfair sentencing and send non-violent offenders back to their families sooner.

Created by J.J. on January 17, 2013

1. In our federal prisons there is NO CHANCE for parole.
2. Good time is limited to less than 50 actual days per year.
3. Nonviolent, first time offenders are regularly sentenced to 2-10+ years for things like trafficking stolen goods, insider trading, tax evasion or other financial crimes.

We the people propose this:

Barber Amendment - Title 18 U.S.C. § 3624(b)(1) is amended as follows: by striking the number "54" in the first sentence as it appears and inserting in lieu thereof the number "128"; and in the same sentence, by striking "prisoner's term of imprisonment" and inserting in lieu thereof "term of sentence imposed" . This bill is retroactive. END.

Savings are estimated at over $1.2 billion per year.
