Save $60.5 billion per year while adding 250K jobs for veterans and the unemployed

Let’s give retirement-age Federal workers and separation-minded young Feds the incentive to leave. Then, let’s fill 1/3 or a portion of the vacancies to add 250,000 or more jobs while saving up to $60.5 billion yearly.
The government has roughly 750,000 employees eligible to retire, while more than 10 million Americans are unemployed. There aren’t enough jobs for recent graduates, nor veterans ending careers. Shifting the demographics of the Federal workforce won’t fix it all, but it puts in a bigger dent than anything else.
The current cap on Federal separation incentives is $25,000—no game changer. That cap must be about quadrupled to entice enough Feds to go, especially the well paid ones.
The numbers are rough but the idea right: open the exit so a quarter-million Americans can work.
