Alexander Hamilton is an American hero whose ideas and activities shaped the birth of this nation, including the founding of our central banking system. Andrew Jackson presided over the forced relocation of Native Americans through the Indian Removal Act and was against the central bank. At this point in our history, we should have a woman on our currency, but we should replace Jackson, not Hamilton. We would therefore be celebrating the contribution of women to our national history and continuing to honor Hamilton's legacy, while also acknowledging the pain that the forced displacement of native peoples that Jackson's policies caused.
