Amandla Charter School is a new school that has been improving its performance every year. In 2015, Chicago Public School Board voted to close it.
Now, the final appeal to the State Commission is tomorrow and 340 students, grades 5 - 12 who are trying to get into college may be told to go to other schools.
Because the school has been successful and has donors, I have assumed that the appeal process would work to the school's advantage, but am starting to worry that this South-side location isn't going to get a break.
I volunteer there and am impressed with the process that the whole school is going through to try to remain open.
The 340 kids would benefit from keeping this school open.
