We are on the verge of loosing a national treasure!
The National Park Service at Gettysburg National Military Park is about to demolish the old Cyclorama building. Appearing to be so focused on clearing the area of this structure the foundation and the NPS have dismissed consideration of more objective and desirable options. The NPS Environmental Assessment, however, is badly written with clear bias toward a predetermined goal to demolish this landmark.
By focusing solely on the merits of clearing the site it did not properly or objectively address the merits of the building and therefore fails to comply Item 4 of the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Preservation and guidelines for Preserving Historic Buildings. In this case Restore and repurpose this building.
