The practice of mountain top removal is destroying the mountains of the southern appalachians permanently,while contaminating ground water, destroying habitat and endangering the health of nearby residents. This method of extracting coal is far more devastating to the enviroment than the economic benefits the people of the United States of America receive from these practices. We urge the President, Congress and the EPA to ban mountaintop removal and to protect our natural and national treasures that cannot be rebuilt for thousands of generations to come.
