We respectfully demand government action from the State Department, Congress and the White House to ban the sale of ivory internationally and to severely pressure countries, organizations and individuals that traffic in ivory. A minimum of acceptable actions include:
1) Strong sanctions against countries that cannot show tangible and measurable evidence of aggressive elephant protection.
2) Trade and aid agreement addenda requiring tangible and measurable anti-ivory action and elephant protection.
3) Generous assistance to elephant conservation groups.
4) Aggressive efforts on behalf of elephant habitat conservation.
We want tangible and measurable action, not just talk and platitudes.
What kind of world would this be without elephants? A much lesser one indeed.
