Lost in the present fiscal talks (and not mentioned in the media) is the coming end of the EUC (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) Act. Over 2 million American families will soon lose their safety nets. This will lead to financial vulnerability, increased bankruptcies, foreclosures and a dampening of the entire financial recovery of our nation.
Congress should not let emergency federal unemployment insurance fall through the cracks as they work to solve the current fiscal dilemma. The stakes are too high for unemployed workers who are still struggling to find a job and for the economy itself.
