We the Alumni of Girard College want the Court of Orphans to deny the proposal set by the Board of City Trusts in Philadelphia to change Girard College from a 1-12 grade Residental community to a 1-8 Day school. This decision not only goes against the Will of the founder Stephen Girard which states that the school is to be a 1-12 grade residential school for disadvantaged children. It also fails the current and future students from obtaining the quality education and life that is afforded to them at the school. Girard is not just a school but a community that encompasses family, morals and support. If the children suffer, society will ultimately suffer.
