In December USDA funding for horse meat was approved, this re-opened the oppurtunity for horse slaughter to resume in the United States. Not only will tax payers be paying to help slaughter a breed of animal that most consider a pet (not livestock), but towns will again be invaded by slaughter plants that reak of rotting horse bodies and blood. In America horses are not bred and raised for slaughter purposes, the horses being killed are former pets, ex-race horses, police horses, show horses, rodeo horses, and rounded-up wild mustangs. These horses give their riders all they have, and what do they receive in return? Transport to slaughter in cattle trailers where they are crammed in too small spaces and deprived of water, a bolt to the head, and having their throat slit.
