On June 17th, 2015, a man named Dylann Roof murdered nine people in a South Carolina church.
This racially-driven hate crime should have never taken place, and Dylann Roof should have never had access to a weapon--especially one he purchased legally on his own, despite a felony drug charge just months prior.
Thanks to a minor clerical error, his background check required further investigation and review by the FBI. This investigation exceeded the 3-day limit, known as the Default Proceed Rule, and Dylann Roof was able to legally obtain a .45 caliber handgun.
If we abolish the 3-day limit, we can potentially save many lives. If not for our family or ourselves, we must do it for the families of Roof's 9 victims. We must allow the FBI to do their jobs for safety's sake.
