21 CFR part 1308 DEA Docket DEA-442-Temporary scheduling therapeutic Alkaloids as a schedule 1 has an immediate impact on public health. With the ban current kratom users will switch to methadone or street drugs in large numbers.
Many Americans have lost loved ones to opiate addiction and methadone is one of the top killers. Kratom needs to be regulated but not without a potential Harm study on the existing kratom addicts and how many will move onto heroin/hard opiates.
My goal is to implement Alkaloid treatment program as a test in one of three states with governmental oversight. With a small investment a state can potentially save millions in healthcare costs by implementing this plan and significantly reduce the fatalities associated with methadone use. Kratom has caused 0 deaths.
