Save the Monarch butterfly.... by including talks on joint monarch conservation efforts in the Toluca meeting next week.

Created by S.D. on February 14, 2014

On Wednesday, President Obama is scheduled to meet President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico and Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada in the Mexican city of Toluca, near the volcanic mountains where the butterflies winter after flying thousands of miles.
We ask these three world leaders to include in their discussions consideration of the future of the monarch butterfly. Our three countries share this amazing migrating butterfly. Our peoples are united in admiration and wonder at their beauty, strength and stamina in completing this 2000+-mile migration. Each of our countries, unfortunately, do things - logging, farming practices, use of biofuels, etc. - that harm the monarchs. Individuals can and do take action but we and our leaders need to unite to save this unique natural wonder.
