Save the Moon. Ask UNESCO to make the moon a World Heritage Site to preserve from industrial damage and defacement.

Created by H.L. on December 16, 2012

Preserve the Moon, the gem in our sky, from visual pollution. Private companies are sending rockets to the moon right now. This is not a sport. They see the moon as a source for minerals like aluminum and fuels for further space exploration. Industrial exploitation will deface the moon as viewed from the Earth. No longer for lovers and poets, the moon will show us polluted black spots even without a telescope. World Heritage Sites are "superb natural and scenic areas and historic sites for the present and the future of the entire world citizenry;" they include Yellowstone Park, The Aswan Dam and the city of Venice. We need to add our Moon to the list to preserve its beauty for all.
