save my blue couch.

Created by G.K. on August 02, 2014

This classic example of Reagan-era furniture is currently threatened by the ephemeral whims of contemporary style, taste, the dictates of modern interior design, and ... my wife.

Claims have been made that the blue couch is ugly, uncomfortable, and structurally unsound. However, its detractors ignore or overlook its historical significance as household furnishing. The former sectional (part was lost in 2011) has borne witness to many important events, including the fall of communism and that awesome New Year's Eve rager I threw back in 2003.

The Friends of the Blue Couch ask the Obama administration either to declare the blue couch a cultural object representative of 1980s middle-class Americana and preserve it in the Smithsonian or provide funding to store it until I have a basement.
