This is the Río Piedras State Penitentiary — also known as Oso Blanco (English: "White Bear"). Located in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, Oso Blanco is an important piece of history.
Oso Blanco is in excellent condition. It retains its original style — despite several small updates to the facility, there is little impact on its appearance. And certainly, its 340x225ft courtyard will add more to its four stories. It's obvious that taking away a piece of history and beautiful yet important architecture doesn't bring any positive changes. It can just as easily be turned into a center of tourism, and that brings benefits.
We petition the government of García Padilla to stop the demolition of Oso Blanco, an important historical artifact that is on the National Register of Historic Places.
