At the end of fiscal year 2014, approximately $2.4 Trillion will not be expended from the fiscal year 2014 budget. This amount is likely to be expended during the next fiscal year, 2015. Given that the overall federal budget each fiscal year is under $4 Trillion, it seems odd that over 50% of the federal budget is not expended during the same fiscal year from which the funding has originated. This situation presents a one time opportunity to reduce a future year's budget by the amount that is not expended from a previous fiscal year. Thus, saving the country up to $2.4 Trillion. This petition is for the federal government to evaluate whether this approach can be utilized to some degree to make federal spending more efficient, and provide significant financial benefits to our economy.
