Social Security must not be included in budget negotiations with Congress. It is self-supporting until at least 2037, and with some minor adjustments, well beyond that. Please do not tie the benefit rates to CPI, as this would create hardship for many. Medicare must also be kept exempt from bargaining. Mr. President, please do not betray the trust your supporters have placed in you. Be true to your word and take SS off the table.
