The Social Security Administration already has a system for secure and unique log-ins and for indisputable and up-to-date information on citizenship status. Meanwhile, states and municipalities spend billions to maintain redundant systems and to manage federal, state and local elections. Couldn't we save taxpayers a great deal of money, eliminate any question of election fraud, and eliminate any related excuses for voter disenfranchisement, by developing a system of online elections through the SSA portal? Where people do not have the equipment to vote online, current voting stations could still be used to supply computers. Votes could be verified by enabling voters to match a print-out of their submitted ballot to a confirmation delivered to them by mail.
