Mandating all federal funds for infrastructure be used on more efficient, "green" technologies will modernize and improve the efficiency of our infrastructure, thereby saving maintenance and utility costs while spurring demand, innovation and job creation in the industry.
This approach will net better economic results than simply bailing out an industry that has no demand while setting an example of environmental responsibility and smart use of public funds.
Examples include using LED lighting in all municipal buildings and public schools, solar-powered LED streetlights, solar panels on rooftops of schools and other municipal buildings, rain water capture and grey water reclamation, etc.
