Whereas Thanksgiving Day is:
• A uniquely American holiday dedicated primarily to family and faith.
• A day designated to thank our creator and forefathers for the blessings enjoyed by the American people.
• A day that people have traditionally been more important than profits.
• A day it used to be unthinkable to open a business and deprive employees of their holiday.
We ask the President of the United States of America to sign an Executive order prohibiting the opening of retail establishments that employ more than 15 persons from opening for business between the hours of 12:00 Midnight Thanksgiving Day and 5:00 AM the next day.
Furthermore: To champion legislation to make it a federal offense to require employees not essential to health or public safety to work on Thanksgiving Day.
