The US Postal Service is dying due to competition from free email. However, free email is plagued by both spam and security issues. A paid certified email system run by the USPS would solve this problem. We recommend that this system accept micropayments in the decentralized currency system known as Bitcoin.
To discourage spam and raise revenue, the USPS should set up a paid email system where users pay for the delivery of email in Bitcoins. This would help the environment because businesses and individuals could send a large volume of documents far more cheaply than through traditional mail. The USPS could provide each user with a Bitcoin wallet which would be associated with their certified email address. This system would raise billions of dollars and restore USPS to profitability.
