Save the USS Forrestal CVA-59 as a museum

Created by E.W. on November 27, 2013

The USS Forrestal needs to be a museun and not scrapped! As a former crew member, I served in Weapons Dept. The USS Forrestal was the first super carrier to be built for the US Navy. John McCain served aboard her and was on the flight deck in his aircraft when the rockets started going off. But most importantly for the 134 shipmates who died that day. Also for the firefighters and damage control parties who willfully went into the inferno and exploding ordinance to save their ship and shipmates. The firefighting parties were desimated by the explosions and their shipmates jumped to take their places. This is one of the finest example of Heroism in the Vietnam era.
