On January 30, 2014, the California Senate, controlled by the Democratic supermajority, approved SCA 5, which would allow the State of California to deny an individual or group's rights to public education on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin.
SCA 5 seeks to REMOVE any mentioning of “public education” in Prop. 209. The bill even wants to REMOVE UC and public schools from the definition of State Government Institutions. This will unfairly discriminate a student simply based on her/his race.
The 14th Amendment of the US Constitution clearly states that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of its laws. SCA 5 is racist and unconstitutional.
We hereby urge you to say NO TO SCA 5!
