Schools in impoverished areas should have more attention.

We as a society need to expand all our talents and that includes giving a much needed education to children in areas of poverty. In 1964 President Johnson declared a war on poverty, education is an essential part of this war. The nation’s lowest-performing high schools produce 58% of all African-American dropouts and 50% of all Hispanic dropouts, compared to 22% of all white dropouts. Less than 30% of students in the bottom quarter of incomes enroll in a 4 year school. Among that group – less than 50% graduate. A majority of students in public schools throughout the American South and West are low-income for the first time in at least four decades. That is a lot of Americans not exceeding the best of their educational abilities. Sign this petition to bring America to its full potential.
