Each day hundreds of students in our schools systems are denied a hot lunch for reasons beyond their control.
Kids are given a sandwich and a fruit and left crying at the table for non payment.
Recently, social media was flooded with a story about a cafeteria worker who resigned after she had to take away a child's hot lunch tray and give him a cold cheese sandwich due to lack of payment. The hot meal was then thrown away.
The hot meal that was taken from the child him may very well be the only meal he gets in a day.
Schools should not have the authority to deny a child a hot meal or punish a child's inability to pay by degrading them in front of their peers and shoving a cold cheese sandwich in place of a warm meal
