Scotty’s Law—When person has less than 6 months remaining on their probation, that they are not sentenced to prison on the violation of probation for more than what is currently left on term.
2006 Sentenced to 5 years’ probation.
2012 with 4 months remaining on his probation, he violated his probation.
On his violation of probation charge he was sentenced to 3 years 5 months 12 days. This was double what the new sentence was. After working two jobs, meeting all terms of his probation for 5 years, paying rent, not living on the government, none of that mattered. Now he is being punished and taken care of on tax resources. This is an example of tax money waste and to harsh a punishment for the crime.
