The American education system is broken at every level. Incompetence and corruption stains the k-12 levels, and affordability and debt make higher education shameful. America needs sweeping reforms to the education system, and this needs to include a sincere effort to make college affordable for all citizens. In Denmark students go to college for free, and even receive a stipend to account for everyday needs. Similarly, in Ireland studends pay a small fee for undergraduate studies, and the rest is provided by the government. Education should not be dictated by privilege, but by merit and qualification. With this in mind, I suggest we move to a system similar to Denmark and Ireland. Meanwhile, also improving k-12, and abolishing faulty money-grabs, for example, the ACT.
