Our current tax code is confusing, unfair and full of corruption. Wealthy individuals find too many ways to not pay their fair share and hide their income. The middle class ends up footing the bill for everyone and if one makes a mistake and is audited, the IRS has the power to destroy people's lives.
A flat tax with deductions only for mortgage and charitable donations would be fairer and a much simpler system for everyone. There would be no way to hide income or find special loopholes or obscure deductions. A flat tax eliminates complexity and shelters. Everyone would pay say, 15% across the board no matter how much they make.
