Seal felony convictions from private companies after a seven year period

Created by J.O. on April 08, 2013

Evidence illustrates that the United States has had the highest incarceration rate in the world. For countries comparable to the United the rate is around 100 prisoners per to the U.S. rate of 500 prisoners per 100,000 residents..

As Americans continue to pass through this system, many previous offenders have had difficulty re-integrating into society. This often stems primarily because many companies often shun hiring former felons leaving felons in a state that often leads to repeat offenses.

As a means to keep recividity rates down, we are seeking to have records of felons sealed after seven years of good behavior. Records would always be available to law enforcement however, private companies would not be allowed access to any information over seven years old.
