The Second Amendment was adopted on December 15, 1791. The authors could never have envisioned automatic weapons and could not have intended the amendment to include every firearm that would ever exist in the future. We need legislation that would limit civilian weapons to those our forefathers intended - those commercially available in 1791. The Second Amendment would be protected in this manner written and gun enthusiasts could still have their guns.
